We have a real gem here folks.
DM-InnerTangle has a unabashed Q3 influence, but the implementation is fresh enough to give it its own identity. The map flow is just superb; you can loop around all day, and corridors are a bit wider than usual which prevents you from getting stuck on the decor, although a real wallhugger might still get caught. Overall appearance is also very good, with fine architecture and few if any texture misalignments. Little things like the occasional blood stain on the wall enhances the atmosphere, and a bridge in particular caught my attention, with metal girders attached to the wooden main to act as a support. If you really look, the textures on a wall or two can seem repetitive however.
Gameplay isn't lacking either. Item placement is decently thought out, although there is a chainsaw that I can't quite find a use for. Bots can get stuck briefly in a place or two if you follow them around, but be careful when you drop out of observer mode: these buggers are good. Expect to knock your skill level down a notch if you want a closer fight. A couple niggling points lie in the so-so framerate in a few areas (but you'll probably be fine), and a complete lack of sound except for music, which is sorely lacking especially around the lava bridges (boo!).
In a nutshell, Inner Tangle's is a Quake 3 based map that plays out as good or better than the maps that came with Q3 itself. Grab it now.

Bots are good, granted, but action's a bit too center-bound -- even with the recommended max of 8 players, you can hear a decent echo in some areas. Textures are interesting at first, but get boring soon. And the item placement, yikes! If you focus on picking up the power-ups (means, camping), you might do fine. Otherwise, you're toast. Ammo's so scarce, and so far away from their respective weapons, that it not only prevents spamming (which is good) but smooth & continuous gameplay too (which is bad). And to top it off, the flak's missing. Hey, you Quakers, this is Unreal, remember?
Ah, I'm not done. If there's one thing I hate, it's giving a custom texture file a generic name. This would have been the third or fourth file in my utx-folder imaginatively called "quake3.utx," and I'm really fed up with those renaming orgies to get a certain map going.
