AWE: 2
A tech themed map that runs away from the richrig pack, and becomes a good dm/tdm map for small player loads. The map uses just one texture for all walls and that’s why the map is a bit boring from the technical viewpoint. I didn't notice too many misalignments other than in some slanted surfaces but nothing that could distract you from the game. About the lights on this map, I will say that are mostly white or almost-white tones, and if that itself is a bad thing, combined with brown textures makes it worse. I mean, the walls are brown but the lighting doesn't help much to enhance that quality what imo, is a shame. There's nothing outstanding about the architecture but while some places look good like the central arena, some hallways look just average. In fact, the only real grip I see in the theme are the lava pools. Due to the cold lighting applied to the map I feel the lava is just out of place just like the pillars near the belt. Maybe some water/nitrogen under a grate would have fit better.
Build: 1.5
Again from the technical side, the map is a bit boring as there are ambient sounds only for the lava pools and for the wind on the outdoor arenas. A quick look through the editor reveals me that there are no messy brushes anywhere and even being a low to medium poly map, the author created some zones (although he didn't include zone info actors). Andrea "Palka" Varnier suggests a max of 10 players, but I felt the ammo was a bit scarce for such a big player load. Item placement could use some more work and I found that the crates you can/must jump to reach certain areas killed the flow imo (and the flow is good)
Cast: 2.5
If you can ignore some minor texturing problems, the boring lighting and a decent item placement, you'll enjoy this map a lot I'm sure. I played it 2on2 with both human and bots and it was quite funny. I'd recommend this map for online playing due to its small file size and the little computer specs you need to run the map smoothly
