Here is a very impressive map. DM-Frantic looks good, plays well, and is a refreshing change of pace.
If you're like me, you notice that many great maps have lots of z-axis and flow like water. This map has less z-axis than many of those maps, and requires you to do a little more running around in tighter places. It's sort of a nice change from the same old thing. But this endeavor by Chris 'Plutonic' Blundell does have enough height changes, and enough connectivity to keep you busy. Outdoor courtyards, hallways and rooms with dilapidated roofs and walls, a small tower with an elevator, stairs, beveled shapes and stairs make up the majority of what you'll see.
The Shane church textures were used, for the most part. They help give the place a castle/cathedral feel. The sky is visible in the courtyard and other outdoor surrounding, and through the windows and holes in the roof.
The bots seem to do very well. They will take the elevator ride to the little tower and wait for an unwitting playing to pass by. They get all the powerups, jump through open windows, and never seem to get stuck on anything. The item placement helped make for a rousing match. You have to jump for the good stuff, and hope you're not shot in the back in the process. Plus, health was not just given away, as it was sparsely spaced out.
The lighting was pretty good. The sky lights up most of the map, throwing lots of shadows, many which aren't really appropriate if you consider where the bright spot is in the sky. Inside there are torches which give the map a warm glow. There are many sounds placed about the map, and some music on this 4 to 10-player map. |

Lighting is a bit bland though. Asis and Nobody need to lay off the crack pipe. Blacknight...wtf is "y-axis" fighting? That's people on the same plane as you. Maybe you mean "z" axis (like people above or below you)?

When I first saw the 2nd screenshot (above) it reminded me of Vidars for TFC by Neil Manke. That's really why I dled it since I'm an avid TFC player. Then I played and noticed it was nothing like Vidars, but i wasn't disapointed.
