Whether you call it a Forest or a Jungle, this map is for Guerillas
From Monk comes this outdoors map full of plants, rocks and sniper towers. Thrown in for good measure is plenty of items and two redeemers. First off, the frames choke with this single zone behumoth, and the hundreds of sprites and nasty occlusion rate puts a sevre hurt on gameplay. A screenshot would have been nice, I'm going to bag "textures" for a few points to make mine.
23 player starts allow for a big group, however my system could only hack 5 at a time without serious gag reflexes. Bots have difficulty using the multiple lifts and have a tendancy to camp the area they're spawned. Flow suffers from the lack of any connectivity in this horseshoe shaped canyon. The only redeeeming (not a pun) factor is a quick jumpboot-translocator combo to get you and your scope up on the surrounding ridge. From a vantage point the bland lighting and garbled obsticles make for difficult target aquisition, espescially for bots like Malcolm in his default camiflauge. The music is kinda "eh..." but the lifts do have a sound component.
So whats good? This is an expansive outdoor map and maintains its theme and continuity of place fairly well. You will enjoy Alt-Flying your warheads through the trees and windows of the towers (they hold the chicer pick-ups). I would suggest redoing this map with canyon "legs" that are zoned seperatly and make the canyon walls unscalable (taller or block-actors).

| Eddy Merckx "The Ripper" 01-26-2004 03:38 PM MST | Rating: 5 | | their is a bug in the map, somchere you suddenly sink in the sand like it's quicksand and see all textures flying around :p the textures are ugly, one can see the pixels on the plants...
but anyway it's fun for one-on-one combats and i like the concept

I guess youust have to rebuild the geometry by increasing "minimize cuts" and decreasing "portals cut all" . (but don't overdo it , or you will have portals that slice your level all the way.
+ Wish to see thicker trees with heavyer shadows and dimmer light.
