Please note: This is an old review, imported into our database. This map is based on a part of a Nintendo 64 game. Usually I don't like maps based on maps from a console, but I think OZ made a nice map. It's based on a character in Killer Instinct, TJ Combo. I don't know how that map looks, because I don't played the game before. But who cares about that? This review is about the map, not about a N64 game... The author made a nice city map, complete with car wrecks and a boxing school.
The architecture in the map is okay. Most things look nice and detailed, except the border of the map. You don't have to be a great detective to discover that the border is just a subtracted cube with some wall textures on it. This looks very ugly. Luckily, the rest of the map looks good. OZ made some nice details in the map, like the car wrecks. They look very good. He also made some new textures. Some of them are nice, but the most are quite ugly. For example, look at the laundry.
The rest of the map is okay. Item placement of the map is okay, just as the bot support.
I think this is one of the better urban maps for Unreal Tournament. The connectivity is good, something what's different in most urban maps. So, if you're looking for a nice urban map, stop looking around, and download this map.

| Deathwing | Rating: 5.5 | | Crappy compared to his other maps. Bad flow, laggy...bleh.
| Akuma | Rating: 3 | | This map fails to own.
| crazy_roger | Rating: 3.5 | | Not for deathmatch...
| David 'DAVIDM' Münnich | Rating: 2 | | atje, j00 are a sucky reviewer
| Stu | Rating: 7.5 | | Some of the textures on this are pretty poorly made (like the washing lines) but the map plays reasonably well (but the seats in the boxing ring are too high) I do like the train, :) Makes quite an interesting feature. Shame it's only boxed in one small part of the map though. It's resonably good, but not as good as Anubis, Where Eagles Dare or Tekado. Also by Oz.
| fragswill | Rating: 4 | | Excellent architecture, photo-realistic textures, superb lighting, flawless item placement and a great layout with room for z-axis fragging.. NEED I SAY MORE?!
| Blooddog_sweden | Rating: 4 | | Not very good.
| Hellishspleen | Rating: 6.5 | | Laave the map allow it didn't do anything wrong
| Sir Xavius 11-09-2005 02:16 PM MST | Rating: 8 | | I actually found the map interesting and fun. I was amazed at some of the artwork, and loved the non-linear gameplay. This is not really a map for arena fragging and free-for-all style. There are plenty of places for ambushing opponents, and rooting out campers. Some of the structures are below-grade (the burning cars comes to mind), but i'm not playing for realistic graphics. I wanna play for the flow.
Yes, there is well-designed training gym, but that's only a small part of this city-type map. There are apartments with ammo-lined shelves, steep-stepped stairwells that ascend to tenement rooftops, back alleys and graffiti-lined corridors, and a hidden elevator. As a matter of fact, i only wish there were MORE places to explore behind the steel-barred metal doors. The map area is actually rather small, but there is good use of the z-axis, so it seems to be a "tall" map (unlike most city maps).
You won't get bored if you're playing with 8 players (16 if you like heated action). I guess my only criticism is that bots don't tend to explore; it seems that they find an area to defend and wait for the action to come to them. It also seemed like the a couple of the botpaths were incomplete or faulty.
