I know this map came out a long time ago and since then there has been UT2k3 and now 2k4 buuuuuuuuut I came across it while going through ut maps at NC and had to register so I could comment. DM-Empowered][ is one of the most exciting dm maps I've ever played. The use of jump pads to help create the kind of intense breakneck gameflow which exists in this map was a brilliant idea! To those of you who have not downloaded this map, don't think of jump pads as being simply for bouncing up and down or even as a means to get from point A to point B. The placement of them within the flow of the map adds to the OMG! feeling you'll have after playing this online with 1/2 dozen good fraggers. Even in single player this map rocks. I have to mention here that I play zark and ig but I imagine this is great fun with reg weapons too. The map looks very nice to begin with and from the minute you click in it just flows, except for the fact that you'll most likely be respawning a lot. I Usually don't like maps that have places where you fall off and die but in Empowered][ it not only makes sense (it's sort of a castle floating in the sky) but it adds to the intensity of the deathmatch in the same way the ropes confine a boxer or wrestler to the ring. You can't get away. The pace of this map is fast and it gets crowded in a hurry. If you play 2k3 or 2k4 you've experienced the use of adreneline to speed up. This map feels like everything is on adreneline speed from the word go. I'm an electronic music (techno, d&b, etc) fan but the heavy metal-esque custom music that comes with this map is perfect. MadMonk did an awesome job with this. I've had it on my box for a few years now and put it on our servers. Seeing no comments about this map I had to say something. If you're still playing UT99 download it. If you're playing UT2k4 these days do a search. Someone ported it over perfectly to 2k4 and it rocks! I give DM-Empowered][ a 10.
