A fun low-grav map that trips up on theme.
Dave O. describes this map as a "Vertical Low Gravity map set indoors (warehouse enviornment)" in his readme file. While I can agree with the "vertical," "low gravity," and "indoors" parts, I don't really understand how the "warehouse environment" comes into play. Besides a few scattered crates, you also have candles, flames, and...books? Books in a warehouse? Despite this muddled theme, this map is still a really fun time to play, especially at "for-fun" LAN parties with a bunch of hyperactive sweaty guys, as I found out.
You have a central arena with an elevator shaft heading up, up, and away. You also have VERY tight side corridors and ramps. Combat in these side corridors can either be hunting and killing or fast-paced and intense, depending on the amount of players in the level; the author recommends 4-6. I didn't dig how easy it was to kill people in these tight corridors - you don't really have a lot of room to dodge. While this forces you to think a little more when you leave the central arena, it's also very frustrating when someone can follow you in and paint you from behind before you even know what hit you.
A couple things bothered me about this map, first and foremost being the bots. While the did their whole "kill Earl like he was a chicken" thing when they were on godlike mode, they often congregated under the elevator, waiting for it to come back down. As the elevator came back down, it promptly bounced off their bot-craniums and went right back up. Also, the bots get a bit confused in some of the side passages and repeat movemenrs a few times before they catch their path and continue on their merry way. But the thematic confusion had to be the thing that irked me the most. By and by, however, this map was still plenty o' fun to play. I recommend it with humans as it's a lot more fun to try to hit players controlled by people than it is bots in this level. Download it and try it out!

| Armageddon_Man 05-23-2003 02:07 PM MDT | Rating: 6 | | I think this map isn't zoned. There are gravity in all of this level. And the edge??? WTF is it??? A lift??? For what??? This map contains various things of the first Unreal like the explosive barrels (in a closer room with the Biorifle) or the slime barrels (in a stair you can see in their sides two slime barrels and another things...).
