Please note: This is an old review, imported into our database. This is another realism-based megamap from Angelheart, who I have a lot of respect for. Unfortunately, and he's well aware of it, it suffers from the same problem as DM-Amariner - impossible frame rates. It's a shame, too, that beauty and performance are so mutually-exclusive, because this is one good looking piece of work. Great neon work, incredible textures, superb layout and good item placement make this a map I wish I could play. It's big, too, and you could easily fit 12 players in here. Unfortunately, the frame rate drops so low that the map is, for all intents and purposes, unplayable. I give this a 4 strictly due to the beautiful work Angelheart did here, and perhaps, when we get our Voodoo7 cards to go along with our 2 gigahertz computers, maps such as this one will be not only playable, but the standard by which other levels are measured.

| shad0h | Rating: 6.5 | | I thought the map looked just awesome. I spent some time walking around just looking, with one bot just to keep things interesting. I loved the music, the ambient sounds, the sense of familiarity {having seen the movie}. On my system {PII 350, 128Meg, ATI Rage Fury 32Meg} I found the map to be more or less unplayable. Then again, DM-Verdana didn't run so well either. Still, I bet Dusktodawn would run pretty nice on one of these 1.4gigahertz machines, with 256meg+ and a fast, 64Meg 3D card. When I get one, I'll let you know :)
| BangOut_[EH] | Rating: 2.5 | | This is one of the first maps for UT I ever downloaded and I think Pete hit the nail on the head with this one except that I don't think the gameplay is worth a poop. Sweet looks, heinous level design.
| duncast | Rating: 9 | | awww c'mon! This map ran perfectlly! Its a great map!, what computer you running? a commadore 64? It is a beutiful map, and very playable. (P.S. I have a PIII 733)
| Akuma | Rating: 3 | | The 'good looks' fall apart the minute you examine anything closely - texture and brush alignment is non-existant. Unplayable and nowhere near as pretty as you are making out.
| C.H.U.D. | Rating: 4.5 | | Fun to walk around in, but not much else.
| Agent X | Rating: 0 | | Mr. Fancypants archetectural genius strikes again. And I thought the mad disco pirates were bad, but this takes the cake.
| =G3nocid3= | Rating: 1 | | Great looks, but I only care about gameplay. And guess what: IT SUCKS ON GAMEPLAY
| Lustmord | Rating: 8 | | I have to agree with duncast. What are you people using? Aptiva 133's? I have a PII 400 with 128 RAM and a Voodoo3 2000, and it runs choppy outside by the vehicles, but otherwise it gave me no grief. Besides, it really shows of what the Unreal engine can do. Just cut down the players to about 4.
| Turboman | Rating: 7 | | No slowdowns on my pc
| CARADOC | Rating: 4 | | This map is a 9 ... until you try to play it and it drops to a 1. Looks good but unplayable on my lowly 233.
| fluffymike 06-27-2005 04:43 AM MDT | Rating: 6.5 | | Nice looking map, and despite not having a great machine, I've never experienced any major problems playing it online - unlike many other maps i have dl from here.
Gameplay is all important to me, and it's ok. Quite fun to begin with, but wouldn't want to be playing it daily. It tends to get picked about twice a week on servers I visit, and that's just fine.
