If you love Realism, This map will get you to sit-up and beg for more!
Hatched in the evil brain of Judas Sinn comes this tribute to the mapper Angelheart.
Well, something like that it says in the readme...
So what is all the hub-bub bud?, This map basically covers a city block and has a working Underground, to us state side fraggers that would be a Subway. I didn't see any bums sleeping about, but was pleased to encounter BOTs even on a light player load down there. As far as the "city" part of the map, it's fairly complex without serious slowdowns. Something that is difficult to do with the Unreal engine and is just the kind of maps most authors avoid. Dogtown is very well realized, with great custom graphics and a keen eye for structural detail without going overboard with the polys. The pic doesn't do it justice, once you enter the map you will be struck by its scale. Player proportions are adhered to in the architecture and so is the lighting applied with equal precision. A new UMX file accompanies the map titled "quickbro". Well if you've taken typing , this would be short for the imfamous phrase, if not, it sounds cool anyway, the music too, well more of a soundtrack when you get down to it.
So with all this good stuff, what makes this dog bad?
BOTs do get stuck every once in a while making for easy marks, and they haven't the finesse to sit-n-snipe. I found by scoping from the roof tops and keeping a fresh T/L beacon by the Redeemer it was easy to smoke the compitition. The wide open areas made it a chore to minigun war with any success, and when tracking down frags, it was tipically better to wait for something to come along. Weapon layout and Item placement felt good, except one ally with armor and a minigun. The distances also rendered most weapons ineffective unless you could pin your target into a corner. BOTs overcame this by closing on their victims, so don't "stand and fight", run away and double back when you can absorb the heat. I couldn't find any invisibility, in a map like this against humans, this would be a serious advantage. The map lends itself to Team Deathmatch rather nicely so if given the choice go for this option. Free-for-all fraggin can get tedious and more of luck game coming upon your opponents from behind if you venture forth. With higher player loads, luck tends to be on the BOTs side for winning the match.
In conclusion, Dogtown is my kind of town. What can I say, I like to snipe. If you Team play this map, you'll find a few "sweet" spots that help take a bite out of enemy's shorts while they sniff about for something bigger than an Enforcer. Somebody mentioned a "realism" mod would go good with this map, like Infiltration or Counter Strike, I would agree but can't recommend any first hand.

I really like everything, well laid out, lots of snipe points, huge map, runs well even on low end machines.
The only things which keep it from a higher score are the train pushing instead of killing you, the inability to get on the train, and the fact that most buildings cant be entered. But all in all a freakin wicked awesome map. Lots of ambush potential and deep shadows really set the mood, along with the grafitti.

only one thing..the train goes one way, then comes back the opposite direction..on the same track...but..shouldnt it be going the same way each time? :P theres a way to do it, just cant think how right now, also..to add to the realism, how bout having the train damage the player say..95 damage? :P or kill the player when he gets hit by it, and have the central electric rail which gives the player electric shocks..lol

It really does need to be played on-line though as even with bots on godlike it's not tricky to dominate. Not as big as some other city maps, being a bit smaller than the ever classic dark city, and can be a bit more frantic and nervy than other sniping based maps.
