Deck15][ will keep you busy with about a dozen players. The author suggests 2-16, but 10 is about right I would say.
This map has low polys, and it should play pretty quick for most. There are elevators, ramps, stairs, catwalks, lava and slime. The map offers some different fighting techniques including ducking behind crates, bouncing blades off the walls, sniper post action, medium-ranged fights, and the ever-popular z-axis attacks.
Panel textures are used, but the patterns are offset on catwalks. I'm not sure if the author did this intentionally, but it looks a little sloppy. Trim was absent, but the author did use some bevels and curved shapes. But there are quite a few places with bad geometry lines showing up, and some misalignment. It doesn't effect the gameplay, but again, it just looks sloppy.
The bots worked very well, especially since they were presented with quite a few challenges. They used the lifts like they should, and were able to get to all the powerups. The item placement was pretty good in that I always seemed to have something worthy to shoot with. The sniper rifles are placed on sniper posts, a redeemer is an easy grab with a teleport jaunt, the shieldbelt rests on a beam over the lava, and health was scarce, which made you work for your points.
Most of the major light colors were used, including a green glow surrounding the slime pit and a red hue emanating from the lava. A couple of other colors infiltrated the building, while white light contrasted with shadows, completing the task. Sounds! Well, I had to edit the game because of the sound. The author, De Lange, used ambient humming sounds, and turned their radius up to max and their volume up to 75%. The bad news is my ears are still bleedingĂ–.the good news is all the stray cats left my neighborhood. The lifts buzz, and there is music.
~End of Review~
For the author: I had to edit your map and turn the sound way down. It was so loud that my speakers were distorting, even on a low setting. I'm not 100% sure if this is from your settings, or the new 225 patch I'm using, but I was painfully loud.
