Converted By: Kelvin (aka LÈon)

This map is a conversion of a Wheel of Time deathmatch level. Conversion or not, this is one of the best deathmatch levels I've ever played. As I'm not sure how much the author did to this, as it's a conversion from an unreal engine game, I'll be reviewing the map itself, not the author's effort. I know it sounds a bit harsh, but what can I do?

Every little part of this map has the making of a classic. Most of all the gameplay. The level basically comprises of a multi-level arena, with a smaller cellar part underneath it. Architecturally, this map is superb. A consistent architectural theme is resident throughout the level. The texturing is excellent. I know for a fact that Kelvin had to retexture this map from scratch, and he's done an exceptional job! Lighting is sublime, and adds to the overall atmosphere, although maybe it's a tad too dark

Gameplay on this level will absolutely blow you away. Perfect item placement, combined with exceptional gameflow and excellent AI delivers a thoroughly entertaining deathmatch experience. This is the best user-made tourney level, I've played apart from DM-Veltor, and DM-Brutality][. As I've already mentioned, the AI is excellent. As mentioned in the readme file, the bots play as well as human players. The only drawback I've seen with them is that they sometimes get stuck waiting for the lift. Item placement is perfect, although in my opinion, it could of done with out the redeemer.

In conclusion, this is a superb 1 vs. 1 tourney map. When I say noone should be without it, I mean it. Try two to five players for a fast paced game. Although this level is a conversion, a lot of credit is due to Kelvin, for the excellent job he's done porting it, even if most of it isn't his work. The superb texturing for example. Anyway, get this level!!!!!

DM Cacophony Of Silence is;

  • A small tourney level

  • Extremely fast paced

  • A conversion of a Wheel of Time level

    DM Cacophony Of Silence isn't;

  • All Kelvin's work

  • Better than DM-Veltor or DM-Brutality][

  • Very bright

    It has 3 guns. 2 are the rocket laucher and one is the redeemer. Architecture is good, texturing and lighting is bad, little z-axis, poor flow...

    Looks boring, and is boring.

    Ugh! It's pretty much Rocket Arena. Fun and fast... for one minute.

    I don't quite recall the exact layout of this one, but I've enjoyed having it in my map rotation for a while.

    Bland, small, too dark, boring. Rocket launchers can be fun, but are over-used here.
