Please note: This is an old review, imported into our database. DM-Brutality][ is an extremely fast-paced UT Deathmatch map that will really test your dexterity. The map is so wonderfully interconnected, you'll find yourself in a constant struggle to stay alive, let alone get your frags in. Your frags will come, however, as there's no shortage of opportunities. Layout and item placement are very good, as with most 'Akuma' maps. I would have liked there to be more of an opportunity for a breather or some sniping in DM-Brutality][, but this was obviously not part of Rich's design concept here. Instead, this castle-based map provides for death, and lots of it, at an extremely fast pace. DM-Brutality][ is *not* for the timid. Due to its relatively small size and superior connectivity, things start getting quite a bit crowded around 8 players. Bot action is excellent, and I'm sure you'll get a big charge out of this map. Summing up, this is yet another winning level by someone I think is a real master of Unreal/UT level design! |

| SirFraggedalot | Rating: 9 | | L33t all the way. Very good use of Quake3 textures.
| Deathwing | Rating: 8.5 | | This is one map I've never stopped playing.
| HypErioN | Rating: 6.5 | | Lighting isnt all that cool... especially not in the corridors. Speaking of corridors, this map has to many of them, just as Q3. :/ Architecture is OK, but it lacks the cool trim ideas that nowadays maps have. Layout is, as i said above, to Q3. (only Q3dm13 has good layout) Back when it was released, this was pretty much as good as it got, but now, its not :/ A 6.5
| Akuma | Rating: 5 | | /me agrees with hype. Too many polys and looks like shit for the polycount. Fun at the time (or something :P)
| Kain | Rating: 6 | | I really want to like this map, as the concept is great, but there are too many things wrong with it. High poly count, those crappy lensflares, and the bouncepad that the bots don't use much.
| crazy_roger | Rating: 8.5 | | I like it... simple but great ! ;)
| Dai | Rating: 5.5 | | heh.. not Mr Akumas finest hour :p
| David 'DAVIDM' Münnich | Rating: 4 | | But Cliffy sez that it 0wnz :/! But Cliff sez a lot!
| Agent X | Rating: 7 | | Fun map I played online several times. I put it in the top 10% of user made maps for sure.
| Stu | Rating: 7.5 | | I really enjoyed it when it first came out, but the Quake style Brown and er... brown textures let it down quite a bit. Still a good map to keep in case it crops up on a server, but it isn't one of my first choices for a map.
| skankey | Rating: 6 | | The first Eastwood map that I didn't put me into a rage of jealousy- just a rage of dissapointment ;)
| fragswill | Rating: 6 | | smells like q3.. looks like UT
| Blooddog_sweden | Rating: 8 | | If Cliff says that this ownz,it does!!!!! Good Architecture!
| BarfLung | Rating: 7 | | FOR ONCE I agree with DavidM - Cliffy should do his own Ownage reviews properly or scrap it completely as I'm sick of wasting my time!! I thought this map was a bit too small - should have been the size of DM-Helleth to show off those luvverly textures...
| Shock6822 | Rating: 6.5 | | Old map from Akuma = DavidM quality :D
| REeeE{FDOC} | Rating: 6.5 | | Great eye candy, dodn't like the play so much.
| Lustmord | Rating: 6 | | Man, am I sick of quake textures. Buy some Unreal powered games and use the .utx files they come with for a change. Somebody. Anybody?
| Ravenus 11-04-2002 12:51 PM MST | Rating: 7 | | Beautiful looking map with crisp Q3A textures and great 'curvy' architecture. But its too frenetic and doesn't allow for much strategy other than grabbing the first weapon and firing away.
| IronMan 02-08-2003 07:18 PM MST | Rating: 7 | | I enjoy this map's fast-pace frag-a-second connectivity. What I do not like so much are the Quake 3 textures even though I enjoy playing Quake 3 (GASP!) I like the games to be two seperate atmospheres.
| MrPutz 08-15-2004 02:12 AM MDT | Rating: 6.5 | | I played it a lot.
| NulEnvoid 07-09-2005 09:43 AM MDT | Rating: 7.5 | | I used to love playing this, mint map for a fast game.
