It's heavy rain outside and the ceiling is leaky. Water dropping everywhere so You better have Your rubber-boots ready. The map has a wonderful environment with lots to see and hear. It also has very nice layout with z-axis. Squeaky boards and rumbly steel beams... If You have the gear to run this map (500MhZ required for slick gameplay) get the map and start to enjoy !

The map is NOT low poly. The polygons are something like 250/400 at most placees but they still keep under 450/800. This makes the map unplayable with most low end rigs. My puny 500MhZ Compaq (SR) had some trouble with this map. One of the 10 player starts was improperly located and may cause some trouble. Other than that, these were on good places and their direction was taken good care of. There is an issue with the map file name. The file name (DM-Brunel.unr) contains a space after the '-'. This is not a problem with local play but in the net it will force the clients to download the map. Fixing of the problem is easy, just remove the space from the name and that's it.

The bots make a good resistance but they do this aided with their inbuild AI only. There are some jump spots to make the bots use impact jumping to go up to ledges. However, there is very little of the downgoing shortcuts present in the map. This makes the bots somewhat dumb when chasing You. They do not know that they can jump down instead of going the long way to the stairs. No ambushpoints present meaning the bots will always chase You instead of doing the camping thing.

The map flows very well. The z-axis is high enough to hurt You so You should look Your step if You are not in perfect health.

The weapons are very well placed, the more lethal ones being more dangerous to get. Being a quality map like this, the weapons would have HOLDERS for them instead of being slapped on the floor. The ammo is NOT always in the vicinity of the weapon so You better not adopt to one and only weapon. The shield belt is located up and perhaps a bit too near the damage. The layout and items near these encourage camping.

The architecture and textures cooperate perfectly. The map is very detailed and the finishing touches have been elaborate. I was not able to spot any real texture misalignments, there might be some but none of them is poking my eyes. The same applies to the lighting and sound; the map has been done with great care and taste. There is one slip in the othervise perfect map; the two light boxes above the elevator are immersed into the ceiling... maybe the author left these intentionally for me to find...

The music is Razor-ub which I would turn off to get immersed into the nice environment.

To the author:

The bots are important to many of us who have a crippled internet connection and still want to play decent DM matches. In Your case the pathing is almost there, just some ambush points and some path nodes over the edges to show the bots the shortcuts down the ledge. That's it. Thank You of a very nice map.

ai does need work. ai counts a lot 4 me personally. like the graphics tho. hey Varpu, what's with the capital "Y"'s everywhere you write 'You' and 'Your' etc? Very beautiful map! I love the details like the fog on the floor, the dripping water and the light from the windows. I only think there are too many powerups.

Looks fucking awesome in my book. Originality in spades, great atmosphere. And it reminded me of the set from "The House on Haunted Hill" in places. One or two light greenings, but apart from that it's Superfly!

man, a map that managed to stay motw for over a year only deserves a 10(ok ok, must balance that moron out that gives a ZERO)still nice map!

This kind of innovative mapping makes it worth judging others work. I'm so incredibly appreciative of this beatiful work of art. However, it runs slow, and well, there are guidelines for a reason.

Damn the atmosphere of this map is AWESOME!!! And that mixture of industrial theme and abandoned castle/ house/whatever it is rules!!! But it runs a bit slow due to the polycount

Definitely a great looking map with great sound fx. Unfortunately I have the same problems as others re: LAN and crashes and have always had that despite a rebuild. Possible version mismatch errors?

I don't know about the LAN thing,but I got this map a long time ago and thought it was realy cool.But after playing it a while you start to realise it's kinda small or crampy feel or somthing.I still have this map too.

I remember when this map was motw.
This one is definitaly worth the download, I can't honestly complain about bot play though. I'm happy with what I've seen so far.

The execution of this map is simply put excellent.
It breaths, it's alive. I like the architecture, the lay-out, it sure isn't too small. The lighting upstairs, the dripping water, the use of sounds...

Sweet map. Only tried it in botgames so far. It played well in teamgames.
