It could have been a classic.

The theme (Easter Island) is original and the asymmetrical design of the island very good. My rating is based mainly on those two aspects. The game play is good but as is the case with most asymmetrical designs the map is a bit unbalanced.

The map is basically a volcano with two bases on either side. The volcano is not very pronounced (until you fall in it that is). The Easter Island influence is shown by the head looking lookout post scattered all over the island. Two paths lead all the way around the Island. There are small pools of water scattered around, one is full of health vials. There is a grove of palm trees on one side of the island near the blue base, with many goodies laying among the trees. Lastly you can swim in the water surrounding the island. Water that doesn't kill you, brilliant!

Unfortunately there are a few things that hurt the design of the map. The two base are incredible small making getting at the flag a major pain. Aside from the palm tree grove the rest of the map is made up of dirt. A few more threes and some grass here and there would help. Also there is a sewer pipe near the red base. My biggest complaint is the use of concrete textures for the two paths, bases, and lookout posts. They really kill the exotic island theme. Wood and/or stone textures would complement the theme of the map much better.

The bots take the path over top of the mountain near the volcano opening most often. The red team has an easier time getting to the blue base than vice versa. However, when the red team does get the flag the shading bot pathing has them often taking the scenic route back to their base.

With a few changes this map could be great.
1. Replaced The bases with open temple/alter structures.

2. Most balance in game play.

3. The use of more appropriate textures.

4. tweaked bot pathing.

It's actually pretty good with a reasonably unique theme and a decent look and skybox for its age. Bot pathing could use a bit of work but it's still hard to get captures on. Download and give it a go...

I downloaded this a while ago and it just didn't seem like a real island with all the steel floors and bases. It would have been better if the steel was replaced by wood! Besides that, it just didn't keep me interested.

sorry, but this is a really good map, i know that Insky put a lot of work into this, and it used to be one of the most popular maps on a server i used to play at, there are a lot of edits of this one, a DM/TDM one, and a few extra CTF versions with custom weapons (eg jets)

Yes, the bots probably are not brilliant, but from what i understand, this was made for online play

We used to play this map on our server with 10 Skaarj
Warlords to distract the defenders. First getting the flag, and then getting away with it can be tough - good tactics needed. Good map.

Now with a skybox like "Kazemat"... that would really be cool....

Nice map, but maybe too big. like the pill boxes and the fact that you can swim round the island to get to the other base. i saw bots doing this once, they're pathed quite well. Nice jungle touch to one side.

I think an underground tunnel network might improve it. it wouldn't have to be from base to base, just pillbox to pillbox.

Maps like these are hard to make...
This one is decent and plays somewhat fine.
