The Father: Well, since nobody has moved the two huge rocks that are blocking the road, I guess I'll stay home another week. My boss can wait. "Kids, please do not enter in the garage, your uncle Ted has left some nuclear waste in there. He'll pick it up later.
The Little Kid: "Dad, Steve has some porn magazines under his bed! Ha-ha, screw ya Steve!" The Older Kid: Shut up, ya little punk!
The Mother: "Honey, look there's a cute little bunny in the garden! Isn't he sweet! See how he's hopping on his two little legs…his only two…little…legs. Oh my god, what's wrong with this animal!?
Now seriously. I liked this map. I liked it not because of the great gameplay but because of the atmosphere it has. It creates the feeling of a cozy family house, somewhere in the countryside. You can feel that there are people living in this house. And it is summer. I literally could feel the hot dry breeze on my skin. The author – Lee Appleby has done great job with the interactivity in his map. Breaking windows, opening doors – every single door can be opened. The CD-ROM opens with the appropriate sound when you come near it, the chimes near the door ring when you touch them – and they even shake accordingly. The waste basket also opens, the garret window on the attic opens – rarely seen interactivity in a custom map. There is a ball in the garden that jumps when you touch it (in fact it is a pylon with changed mesh). Lee also had used a lot of custom textures for almost everything – the stove, the VCR, the TV box, the jacket in the wardrobe, the carpets and many more. The CD in the CD-ROM really looks like CD. The pictures in the rooms are examples of some nice art. And with all this custom textures, his map doesn't have a screenshot – how is this possible? I noticed that he hasn’t put any lights in his level. He has left the lighting unrebuilded, achieving the effect of even distributed daylight – like in a really bright summer day. I would've enjoyed to see some mountains or something like that in the distance in addition to the skybox but whatever. Indeed maps like that aren't very playable and are contrary to the main idea of the Tournament, but still I think we need them too. And I liked the woman on the picture in the living room – I think she's very cute!
