Read the title

A CTF map by Lestat sticks to the formula of two forts seperated by lava. While not too original in concept, the individual brushes and composition must be the authors own.

First off there is no screenshot, I usually don't mention this if the map is good, this time it's a fair warning. Even bots on "Godlike" can't infiltrate the enemy's base over the narrow causeway. getting the ShieldBelt or Redeemer can only be achieved when the opposition is too busy clearing out their armories, armories defended by minigun turrets. Flow is very limited, two routes are possible, again defended by minigun turrets.

Architecture is primitive, with misaligned brushes, textures and a skybox that will scare you if you don't have 3dfx support. The textures are mainly Egyptian tossed with some Crypt, not a pleasant combination. Even worse when mixed with the minigun turrets. The large lava pool between the bases has the surface scale up way too high to be believable, once inside the mover-doors blend with the walls like masked decorations and feel out-of-place despite the modern FX. The music has a gothic beat and ambient sounds blare without proper sourcing.

Sure, there's a few neet things like two flags, a red one and a blue one. Plus a nifty Nitrogen zone that will capture spectators and players Translocating too high up in the sky. Other than that, hopefully this map was a good learning experience for the author and will serve as a tool to further the skills required to make a truely great map.

*sarcasm* This map is fantastic! All your favourite maps come together into CTF-2fortslava! Its got lava! Its got 2 forts! What more do you need?

A learning experience for the creator. I look forward to seeing better maps of his in the future.

Isn't this a retexturing of a prior map?

This isn't an overly good map, being a simple run straight to the enemy flag style affair, but even then you can't get out, and the overuse of minigun turrets were awful.

Call me harsh but I hated this map. It's hard to get past the auto guns and the small platform in the middle is easy to get shot off. I got bored quickly and ended up seeing if I could get past the nitrogen zone, which I did! Once out you can see all the doors that move up come through the roof. Anyways it's layed out well, but the cannons spoil it!

hmm, for evryone who would like this map on egypt style, should look too 2pyramids
Most of all 2fortsoflava = version 2
Water makes it lava. Author makes some spikes for looking wild. And the buildings are almost the same

Bad Conversion!!!!!!!!
A true masterpiece, that are the comments too of 2pyramids, so don't be so stupid to give your own maps 10 wit more players!

I downloaded this little diamond in the rough not long after it first came out. It's a fixer-upper, so don't let first impressions fool you. I redid the skybox, botpathing, and lighting on my copy of it, and these days it works great. The architecture is basic, but solid. Gameplay wise, I like my CTF a bit bigger (CTF Horus or CTF Warrior come to mind) but for some chaotic, mindless fragging with 12-16 players (I pretty much only play offline) it will satisfy. I also play it with Bullet Time 3.0 and U4E Fortress, the last release of U4E for the original UT AFAIK. The combination of well-pathed bots, bullet time, and the U4E teleporting katana and fourball launcher needs to be seen to be believed...it rocks.
