Air Time!

DM-AltitudeB by James 'Stilgar' Stringer is a 1 on 1 tourney style map with plenty of Z-Axis and a mellow blue tone to jazz up the field of play.

Consisting of two areas, an upper gimme the Rocket Launcher and bunch of health roost, and a lower symmetrical arena for the less upwardly mobile. Health vials are about everywhere to lead players about with enough weapons and thought out item placement. However, the item nooks create easy kills by picking off entering/exiting players, making the bots fairly predictable and the map less of a challenge.

Fun: With 3 players (1 above the recommended dose) the map becomes more alive. 4 is the absolute max for frag containment.

Playability: Good FPS, no hinderance and cool lifts. If you jump at the right moment you will be catapulted skyward, big time.

Bots: Below "skilled" they didn't put up much of a fight. They go everywhere and get everything if you let them.

Flow: The totally symmetric design and very simple layout make AltitudeB a very easy map to learn, and very hard to hide in.

Items: Item nooks can be used to trap your prey. Autor recommends "no translocators", I recommend the *ball-Armor combo :)

Theme: Continuity is excellent. Of course its a small map.

Architecture: Whole and partial regular polygon construction. Nice amount of trim.

Lighting: Don't bother with team colors, mostly everything is blue. Decent sourcing.

Textures: Bare minimalism yet effective. Nothing to gripe about.

Sound: Just enough with music, nothing special.

So after a week of playing AltitudeB, I have to admit it is a fly little map and makes for a fast 1 on 1 arena. Play this online for your grudge matches when system specs would otherwise put you out of the running. I would have liked to see two side rooms off the arena for more demension and maintaining symmetry, maybe that's why I played this map so much... I wanted more.

Average (nice colours though).
Not worth a 10 in my opinion.
