REVIEWER: Gnome and Sapper DATE: MAY 26, 2005 TODAY'S MAP WAS PICKED BY: GNOME
AWE: 0.5 BUILD: 1.5 CAST: 1.5
SAPPER: Gnome, I am going to cut you into pieces in feed you to the seagulls. Whatever possessed you to do a review on a map like this? And what kind of a name is "A-I-F-O"? What does that stand for? GMOME: Be professional just once. We have a duty to comment on all maps, not just the ones that you like. SAPPER: Yeah well, AIFO one wouldn't mind doing something else right now. This author, Itchy-Muff, can go and get some Vagisil.
THE AWE FACTOR SAPPER: No background whatsoever. No sound. No music. Seemingly random platforms. And those red jump things are a real eyesore. GNOME: Sorry people. Y'all know that I just hate having to agree with Sapper on anything, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with him on this one.
THE BUILD GNOME: The plus factor here is that everything seems to work they way it's supposed to. All the lifts and movers function correctly. SAPPER: The minus factor here is that it's all for naught. Absolutely no customs to speak of. No BSP errors or HOMs, but then I'm not really sure how you could screw this thing up anymore than it already is. GNOME: Do I have to remind you of the very first map you ever made? SAPPER: ... GNOME: Yes. Thank you.
THE CAST GNOME: I have nothing bad to say about item placement or bot functions in the DM of this map. But it seems that if you rename the map appropriately, you will get Domination and CTF versions. Unfortunately, these two gametypes require that you play with real people because the bots do really weird things...like commit suicide...constantly. SAPPER: I don't know. Shooting falling bots makes for some good target practice.
OVERALL GNOME: I suppose that the most polite way of saying that I'll never play this map again is, "Sorry, my...uh, my computer is stupid and won't play your map." SAPPER: I'm not convinced. This was just a bad execution of whatever weird idea this chick's dick had. GNOME: Geez, let's just hope that little comment doesn't get you fired. SAPPER: Are we done? GNOME: Yes Sapper, we're done. SAPPER: Alright! Well I hope today's lesson was informative and we'll see you all back here tomorrow. Until then, feel free to drop firecrackers in mailboxes or anything else that pisses off the Liberal government. |

| Nytehawk 06-13-2005 01:35 PM MDT | Rating: 1 | | Annoying, Irritating, Futile Offering. ;)
| niX 06-15-2005 07:11 PM MDT | | bleh / what he says
| Kantham 06-16-2005 08:07 PM MDT | | yup , i still wonder why reviewers don't understand that there is some awesome quality mappage inside nalicity , and instead of reviewing them , they review crap like this one.
| Deathbliss 06-18-2005 04:14 AM MDT | | Kantham...
I'm ashamed of you. ALL mappers should be treated with EQUAL respect, and ALL their work should be EQUALLY looked at. N00bs won't get better unless someone reviews their maps and with CONSTRUCTIVE critism helps them improve. High quality mappers might habbitually overlook certain design flaws, and will need to have these pointed out. I know folks have been prety harsh with you around here, but please don't be like them when you comment on the work of other mappers.
Take the time to think more carefully about what you say in your comments - - Deathbliss
| Mister_Cope 06-24-2005 01:39 PM MDT | Rating: 3.5 | | As far as i recall, it's "Aaargh, i fell off!" I disliked the map rather a lot back when i tried it. 3.5 seems more than fair.
Actually, rather than being about whether reviewing noob maps or otherwise, it's all down to who requests what, what's in the que or so on, usually.
If Gnome and Sapper want to review older maps, that's their choice and i'm sure they have their reasons, be it drawing attention to forgotten classics or that they are picking entirely at random.
| fluffymike 06-26-2005 07:25 AM MDT | Rating: 5 | | Liked it - but the lower platform could have done with being moved along a bit so you could jump from one to the other easier. Apart from that, a simple, nicely executed map with some challenging gameplay. Negative scores build up quite easily rofl. Works well as an insta map too.
| Gnome and Sapper 02-21-2006 10:26 PM MST | Rating: 6.5 | | I have to admit that I introduced a friend to my map reveiws and for whatever reason, he wanted to try it. We ended up 1-on-1-ing it for several hours. I guess that goes to show that sometimes fun maps can come from unexpected places.
