Note: This is an old review, imported into our database. Goldabar has released a series of maps converted from the Nintendo 64 title "Goldeneye." His other levels include DM-007Complex and DM-007Egyptian. This level is derived from the Facility level of Goldeneye. As far as the conversion goes, it is very well done with most of the areas of the original level found in the UT version as well. For the few weapons that have equivalencies to the more "normal" weapons of Goldeneye, they are placed accordingly to where they are found in the original. The other weapons in the level are placed well too, and the more powerful weapons are in areas that are highly trafficked as is, and will be more heavily traveled if there is a rocket launcher at that location. Gameplay is pretty fluid. You might find yourself getting looped around the central area of the level because of the many interconnected hallways, but once you get the lay of the level (which you will already know if you played Goldeneye frequently), you will know how to get from here to there in the least amount of time and using the safest route. As far as I have seen, there is only one power up in this level, which is the body armor. It is located near where the armor is in the original, and because there is only body armor in the level, it makes the "porting" of the level much more accurate. Bot pathing is good. They occasionally get caught up a bit on the curved stairways, and every once in a while when dropping down into the bathroom from air ducts, but overall they will put up a solid fight. Goldabar suggests 2-4 players in this level. I would put about 4-6 players really. Anything less and it turns in to a bit of a hunting match. Anything more and there are too many people guarding the spawn points with flak cannons and miniguns. The graphics are very nicely done, with no custom textures used. The level uses some textures not seen commonly in the Epic levels and they are used well. Especially the room with the vats... through the correct usage of textures, it looks 99% identical to the original level. It is a good all-around level that should be put on some servers in the near future. If the bots didnÃt get hung up occasionally (which only really lowered my score by half a point or a point) and if it wasnÃt so easy to keep walking around in circles (again, trivial once you learn the lay of the level), this level would have a 10. Good work Goldabar. |

| Carbito 09-11-2003 05:55 AM MDT | Rating: 9 | | That mod was great. I loved Goldeneye and I feel that this mod stays true to the original while adding in some good new elements.

| redfist 08-09-2005 10:46 PM MDT | Rating: 3 | | Oh ow eee the doors be to slow for DM,I never played that oo7 game, but the light is too bright in there, and was he trying to make it look like 2 of the toilets wern't flushed LoL. If the lighting was fixxed up and a few more things added to break up the room, room, room this level might be withstandable for playing.
| Kantham 09-19-2005 02:18 PM MDT | | That convertion is not good as Mr.bond's one. But i would say that you at least tryed. 007Cavern is your best remake.
