This is a medium sized outdoor level. It takes place across a large lake, which players must swim across to reach the opposing base.
This level is asymmetric, and as a result is slightly unbalanced. The level consists of two compounds built into each end of a winding chasm. Each compound is sealed in by two fences, and protected by controllable machine-gun emplacements. Various pillboxes, dugouts, and machine-gun nests also guard the compounds. A fairly large rocky lake separates the two compunds. The layout is good, and is similar to that of CTF-Kosov. Architecturally, this map could have been better, as there are some rooms that are way too plain. Texturing is fairly good, especially in the large outdoor areas. Lighting is very good. A variety of different light brightnesses have been used well.
The AI is ok, but not too good. The bots don't use the machine-gun emplacements. All of the defencepoints on the outside of the red base are facing the wrong way. As a result, the bots interpret the order "Defend the Base" as "Lets all turn our backs the attackers and wait to get shot". The blue base's defencepoints are fine. Also, there's a much quicker way into the blue base; translocate to their sniper perch, and get in that way. When I use that route, I'm in and out with the flag in under 10 seconds. This is a shame, because the bots should be using it too. Also, this is what makes the game unbalanced. The red base is much harder to attack, whereas you can use the shortcut to get into the blue base. Sure, you can disable translocators, but you can always rocket-jump in. Item placement is very good, especially the items in the middle of the lake. Gameflow is good, but could have been made better by the inclusion of different routes straight into the flagrooms.
In conclusion, this is a good level, in spite of a good number of flaws and faults. The gameplay really shines through in the centre lake area, where it slightly resembles AS-Overlord, because of the machine-gun emplacements, and sniper perches. This is a level that definitely deserves a ][ version. Try five to six players per team.
CTF Worlds Collide is;
Like CTF-Kosov
Good
A level for snipers.
CTF Worlds Collide isn't;
Excellent
Mastery in the art of AI
Better than CTF-Kosov
Teaching points for author:
Experiment with the AI, especially in making them use the translocator.
Go for a more elaborate layout
Try to be more adventurous with the architecture

| NoQuarter 01-08-2003 10:00 PM MST | Rating: 5 | | This map wold be pretty good if the bots would get across the damn lake alive! I like the design, however. This map is definitely tailored towards defensive players. They have machine gun nests and bunkers at their disposal, but offensive players have to wade across the lake in a D-Day-like assault. The map looks OK and plays OK with humans but, in the end, it just got tossed in the recycle bin.

| combdude 06-24-2003 03:21 PM MDT | Rating: 6 | | The map is ok but you need a way to get across the damn lake without gettin the crap sinped outa ya. Add an armored boat like the one is AS-overlord execpet make it move.Wait.....is that possible??
| Altimartin 11-24-2003 04:18 PM MST | Rating: 9 | | This one was one of my favorite... it was really exciting and the flaws of it werent that bad (the fact that you had to go throught the lake, and the easiness to get in the blue base)
For the the lake...you need good team play... I played it in a lan ... 4 human 2 bots vs 4 humans 2 bots... and it was just too freakin entertaining... (hard too) but after 24 minutes and a strategy we managed to capture the flag...
I wish there were another better version of this map
