This map is a superb twist on the CTF-Face idea, but incorporates a CTF-LavaGiant theme.
This map uses CTF-LavaGiant's skybox, but the idea of CTF-Face. The level consists of two rocky columns floating in lava. They are joined by a bridge, and have a CTF-Face style base on each. There is also an "underground" route, which can be used to escape sniper fire. Architecturally, this map is pretty good. The crate room is the best of all. But, saying that, the stairs leading up to one of the sniper perches are very simplistic. Lighting is great, and adds positively to the level, but the bottom of the rocky columns would have looked better had they been brightly lit red. This would of had the effect of blending the columns into the lava in a much more subtle way. Ambient sounds have been used to good effect, but one ambient is much too loud, and has no blatant source. Texturing is very good on the whole, and suits the level well.
Item placement is very good. The most powerful items are placed in the centre of the level, where they are more difficult to reach, if you intend staying alive long enough to use them. AI is perfect. The bots use both routes, and snipe well. Gameplay is very good, but high poly counts, coupled with high node counts can potentially bring this level shuddering to a halt. Sniping is made near-impossible because of this.
In conclusion, this is a pretty good level, in spite of it's flaws. Although I'd only recommend this for users with more than a PIII-600, this is a level that no CTF-Face fan should be without. Try teams of around 4 to 6 players.
CTF VerosKache is;
Built around the idea of CTF-Face
A haven for snipers
Pretty good
CTF VerosKache isn't;
For anyone with less than a PIII-600
Free from faults
Adventurous, in terms of layout
Teaching points for author:
Try making your own skybox. They are among the easiest things to make, and can add extra depth, as well as a personal touch to a level.
Experiment with a wider range of light brightnesses.
Be more adventurous with architectural work.

| Deathwing | Rating: 5 | | Fun to begin with, but is nothing more than another Face clone that is lower to the ground and has more annoyances.
| Waffnuffly 05-10-2006 05:34 PM MDT | Rating: 6 | | Hot damn, this is one of the craziest Face-like maps I have ever played. Well, then again, I tend to hate Face maps, so I have only ever played about three different versions. However, this one is hilariously insane with the right combination of mutators. Gibs a' flyin' all over the place. By no means is it visually stunning or a great map for serious CTF gameplay, but it is almost like a team-DM-with-flags kind of map. If that doesn't appeal to you, well, you probably won't like it.
