As a follow up to Squacky's DM-Titania comes CTF-Titania, which is a much simpler map in terms of layout but otherwise, looks quite similar. It can hold anything from 4 to 12 players comfortably, and will provide a good CTF experience with a novel new base defence.

The map itself is polished and well-made, although not of excellent quality. The layout is simple, made of two floors, and is symmetrical. It is designed so that there is no way to avoid the titans defending each base. Jumppads connect the two floors as opposed to lifts or stairs. There are a couple of annoying parts where you have to jump back towards your base to actually get to the enemy's base, but you learn to avoid these parts. A few areas have open ceilings that show the clouds way up high, and these add to the look of the level. The actual flag bases don't seem to have any form - the flags are just placed in a corridor, so I think they could be made to look a little more like proper bases. Textures are mostly Quake3 ones, and all looked good except the floor which looked cartoony. Lighting was generally shades or purple, with red and blue indicating the teams' halves. The triangular light fixtures look weird and slightly too big.

Each team has a titan defending the base, each with different names, and their heath can be checked just by pointing at them, like with the bots. They are well-implemented, and shout at their opponents or at you if you try to give them an order. Because they are so big they can only stay in the place they spawn in, and if they die they respawn after a short while. Unreal's crappy collision detection system gets really annoying, however, when you are knocked to the ground level, and cannot run past the titans because they have such a large collision radius. Then you invariably get smacked by the titan and lose the flag. Other than this one gripe, they work well and add quite a bit of fun to the level. Item placement is slightly dodgy - one player can get the Udamage, shieldbelt and the megahealth pretty quickly, although even with that loadout the titans are still tough opposition.

All the rest of the level is above-average. Botplay is very good, there are no BSP problems, and the light fixtures do not catch you while you are running. The titans are the main selling point however - the level itself is good but nothing overly special. I guess there are going to be people who love this map and there are going to be people who think it's just OK.

Truly the level itself is nothing special {if not for the Titans I don't think many people would bother with it.} But there's nothing more fun than laying the smacketh down on a Titan with 3000 health points, and receiving excuses and insults from him in return. Had me LMAO.

The Titans are cool, but I wasn't big on the layout. The jumppads also looked out of place with the rest of the map using Q3 textures.

Sure, the Titans are funny, but they are telefraggable... why try to shoot them for two minutes when the TL does the same trick?

I really like this map. Weapon placement is good and it looks very good. There are a couple different ways into and out of the flag area. The powerups are just a little too easy to get.Telefragging is good but you can nuke the Titan too. If I could change/add one thing I would have a ton of giblets when I nuked the Titan !!!!

Hmmm.... Ahem...Well..It looks good...Pretty boring...A fun thing with that Titan thought.. Looks like some kind of a mutant dinosaur..He, he..

I'd love to be able to play this map so I could be in a position to give it a fair rating, but when I try to launch either this map or its cousin DM-Titania, I'm given the following message: "Failed launching URL Can't Find 'Object Property Engine.Gameinfo.MessageMutator'" If anybody knows the reason for this little problem, I'd love to know. It sounds like a fun map. If somebody has the solution, I'd appreciate them informing me by sending e-mail to: todbillings@earthlink.net

Cool idea!

Yeah nice one for posting a 0 thereby bringing the whole user score down. I hate it when people do that - you do realise that you cannot edit your score? Anyway I'm giving it a 10 just to bring it back up again. :)

Ugh, never thought of tele-fragging the titan. =( Guess we shoulda made it so that it's instant death if you try. Regarding the map: I agree, the layout isn't too hot, those lamps are too big, and the scale is too large.

hehe. interesting

While a nice map the ONE downfall is that whenever you kill one of the LARGE guys you get counted as getting killed in your UT stats. DOH! Be careful NOT to get telefragged when the GIANT respawns. OUCH! There are a LOT of places to hide and snipe if you are into that. Very interesting concept of having the HUGE monsters near the flag base. Oh and for you Redeemer Fans... Look in the dead center for one. Hehehehehehehehehe! BOOM! :|

IT HAS SWEARING TITANS, I'm so happy about that!. I didn't like the jumppads though.

The layout wasn't anything impressive, but I loved the titans. I have to admit, though, that now that I know to telefrag them, its a little too easy. Hey Zed Blacksomethingoranother, you DO know where the titans come from, don't you?;)

Oh man, this is one of the best maps I could play. It looks cool, and it is a lot of fun to play. I especially love playing maps with Titans that can talk, including one that is on my team. Get this if you didn't do so already.

Those Titans are awesome! Especially some of the stuff they say is funny as hell. To bad the level is kind of bland. Wish the author would make more levels with those titans in there.
