I fired this one up expecting CTF-TheEye with just a few minor enhancements. Boy, was I ever wrong.
First, read my review of CTF-TheEye, as some of the basic lighting and texturing hasn't changes a bit. What's different is the addition of a whole middle section and another transporter behind the flag. Instead of the teleporters shooting you into the other base, they drop you in this center region, where polys can spike at 307 in view at some points. You follow the paths to the enemys' two teleporters, one which drops you behind the flag and the other in the front of the base.
There's some lighting problems in this middle section; you can use your translocator to get places where you shouldn't (if you are of the sniping persuasion) but you won't be able to see anything. The flow actually works a little bit better here, but there's still a large lack of Z-axis for the most part. Rev. Billy G tried to keep polys/view down by placing huge architecture to block the views, but it still didn't really help.
Bottom line: Is this a better map than CTF-TheEye? Absolutely. It shows a conscious and rational attempt at solving some of the shortcomings of the first map. Is it a fantastic map? No, but it's not a bad one either. Albeit gimmicky, this is one you should download and try with up to 16 and have some fun. Luq out. |

| Everyone | Rating: 6.5 | | What can I say? I really liked the map! Architecture 6? Bah! It was very original, and IMO, very eye catching as well. The skybox effects were great, I love the script he wrote... although the 'void' skybox could've looked much better. Little problems here and there kept the map from getting a higher score... remember to increase the light radius of those lensflares so they don't dissapear when you're a little ways away! Stuff like that.
