Time is the true test
I cant believe it was two and a half years ago I reviewed the version 1.1 of this well done CTF map. A lot of polys have gone under the bridge since then and a request hits my que for this redo. Welp, I cant seriously find the improvements made over the older version. Souces say it was all in the pathing so texturing, lighting and architecture remains the same. Whatever tweaking was done was for those who must play with bots, which were pretty solid to begin with. So, what do I do? By new NC3 standards this map rates in the 6-7 range, but the original score ranked a clean 8 in everyones books (those who mattered anyway). Let me recap this sweet flag cappin dream of yesteryear.
Visuals remain top notch, face it ppl quality is quality. Believable architecture with harmonizing texture work and Unrealeque lighting preserve this map without a recent face lift (version 1.2 is only a month older than 1.1).
Build is clean with excellent brush work and proper zoning. BSP was a bit heavy two and a half years ago, but todays rigs kick up the FPS beyond any playability issues that once might have detered a download.
Capture the flag is measures in two camps, the Red raw gameplay faction and the Blue tactical base gamers. This map delivers content for both while maintaining the symmetrical layout prime requesite for clan servers. Item placement is well thought out with the simplistic 2 ammo per weapon common to most box UT maps.
In closing, this map doesnt show its age. Some things are timeless, in this case the score remains the same. |

| AMmayhem 06-07-2003 06:14 PM MDT | Rating: 9 | | I liked it really well, gameplay, layout, architecture are all good. Some of the textures didn't seem to fit where they were, and I think it could've used a few more health packs than vials. It's made my map rotation, download it now, what's the wait?
| SkaarjMaster 06-09-2003 01:53 PM MDT | Rating: 8 | | How is this different from LE102?

| BAGZY2oo3 06-27-2003 04:22 AM MDT | Rating: 7 | | Nice map but as usual nothing that different from the normal maps, i have been trying so hard to come-up with an idea for a very original map :P but anyway nice map m8 :)
| Shao 07-13-2003 01:20 AM MDT | Rating: 7 | | well done.

| EvilSwanky 05-12-2004 01:56 PM MDT | Rating: 7 | | Could have been better in places, but overall it's ok
| IronMan 05-15-2006 06:37 PM MDT | Rating: 8 | | I enjoy Plutonic's maps alot and I believe this is his best one for UT. I do like this version of the map but like the LE 102 version even better with the one underground pathway eliminated. The LE version also has powerups and weapons in different places.
