Fun to play with no bugs or annoying gimmicks.
| Reciprocity 02-28-2004 03:33 PM MST | Rating: 4 | | This is basically a revamped version of BadNieghbors. Two enclosed fortresses at each end of an island with a canyon in the middle, two seperate alternate paths..you get the idea. The torches seem to throw off a sort of pink light. There are giant torches and streetlamps in the same map. The alt. paths go through uber-blocky caverns. The cubes that he does use are, in some places, out of whack. The light comes from nowhere in some other places. Some lights are mere subracted holes in the wall. Red base is uttech1 bricks and blue base is uttech2 wall with blue stripe. The sky box is a darkened sky with mountains in the background which is alright except that it's all lit by some dark purple. This overpowers the effect of the mountains and the one lone star in the sky. The bots perform adequetely but all these visual issues make you want to look and gag so who gives a damn about the play. Bottom line: skip it. The problems overshadow the positives. It's not even worth the really cool title.

As for gameplay (always my main concern), it's your basic 2-forts map, which actually reminded me more of Chasm than Bad Neighbors (Chasm had two lower routes while this just has one, tho there are a couple of upper level side routes which are probably not worthwhile).
I'm bored with this typical two forts stuff anymore, so, for a map without any real surprises otherwise, it gets a "4"...
