Let me be frank. This is not the type of map I will play normally. Construction is very basic, just one long boring rectangular room with two flagbases, and some pillars in between to breake up your view. Although there is some vertex editing in this map, it ain't adapted good. A few small corridors arround the flagbases, but imo they are just set up as decoration, because you don't get any advantage from them. You just respawn in those corridors.
Lighting doesn't surprise either. White lights, small color adaptions for the red and blue base, very dark inside the corridors. Basic lighting sources... Not much to say about. Texture usage is from the Coret and DecayedS package. Not innovating, just used because of the colors imo. I couldn't really find a theme in this map, I guess it's just made to play.
As I said before, this map has very basic shapes, so you can't really talk of a fresh and dandy gameflow. Sometimes I had the impression pillars where placed to close to each other. You don't have much space to go arround. Your enemy always knows where you are. Items are just added to have them. Different ammo boxes on a row. A redeemer in the middle of the map. Something you don't do in a CTF map imo, because of the disadvantage. 2 teleporters on each base to a small upper platform. They work, that's the best part of it.
Conclusion This map isn't worth downloading, unless you want some quick and fast action, preferable instagib action, because the normal weapons don't work here imo. I would place this map in the same category as CTF-w00tabolous and CTF-AndAction. Only a little bit larger, and advanced in building. I've browsed through many maps of this author, and I think he can do better, if he would put some more time in it. |
