| koeckchen 08-17-2005 07:49 PM MDT | Rating: 4 | | Difficult to rate this one i think. "It's never a good idea to do a remake", i'm sure you have heard this before. But i think instead of just opening the original map in the ED and adding some new textures here and there you took some time to find out what is wrong with the original and tried to do better. Well, i must say, that AndAction isn't a map either worth nor possible to improve. The idea of putting a whole map into only one brush is the main error and main intention at the same time. But at least you made although the best one can do with it. You put some boxes into the hall to give some cover you gave it some z-axis and added "alternative" ways on both sides. Sometimes you used trims sometimes not, wondered why? You should have used them everywhere, at the space in the floor next to the wall as some kind of frontier between two textures and in the sideways. Then i noticed some performance problems in the middle, don't know why. Lighting wasn't very diversified, just a very low saturation and mostly white. Next time try to use more contrasts and stronger colors. One gets bored looking at the same color on every texcture in a whole map. You announced the missing soundtrack in the readme, but only because YOU don't like music while playing, doesn't mean EVERYBODY doesn't like it. If the map was meant only to fit your mind than you shouldn't have given it to the public, you see? But that's a minor thing. i had to decide between 3.5 and 4 but i have chosen 4 because of you taking care of the problems the original had and not just copying everybrush into a new map, adding some new textures, giving it a new name and posting it as your own work. So far from me...
| gti 08-18-2005 11:26 AM MDT | | the performance problems are because of some many lights together( because they are not the same ), if i putted more trims or whatever then it would be impossible to play it ... and about the music, i don't like the music, if you do just put winamp playing some songs while playing the map ;D
