Level Size: Small

Recommended Player Load: 2 Players

This level is apart of an ongoing 1on1 level pack. The other levels in the pack that have been released are;

DM-1on1-Rose

DM-1on1-Magdalena

The screenshots can't do justice to the sheer quality and playability of this level. Almost every part of this level is flawless.

The level has been intended for 1 vs. 1 games, as are the other levels from this level pack. As you may have noticed from the screenshots, this level has a strong Quake 3 theme running through it. This theme stays more or less constant throughout. Having said that though, the outdoor part has a different theme to the indoor areas. This is clearly shown in the screenshots. The best part of this level definitely has to be the architecture, most of all the architecture in the outdoor area. This is partly due to the excellent textures; most of which have been converted from Quake 3. The platform outside is one of the best parts as well as the pillars. Another contributing factor to level's aesthetic qualities is the lighting. A lot of coloured lighting has been used to good effect, especially in the outdoor area. Whilst the lighting inside is still excellent, it doesn't match the immersiveness of the lighting in the outdoor area. An excellent selection of different brightnesses have been used well to add further depth to the level. There are a couple of ambient sounds in there too. Although they don't add a lot to the general sense of the level, they provide that extra bit for the overall realism. The one flaw that I found with this level is the sky. If someone's weapon goes flying in to the air, it gets stuck to the sky. It's not really a big issue anyway. Besides, it's almost the level's only flaw.

The AI on this level is as good as the rest of it. The bots have been set up well. They can collect and use every powerup, as well as being able to jump between platforms. The AI on this level is better than most others as it provides strong opposition. Even on lower settings. My last game I played was on Masterful, where I beat a tweaked up bot 29-20. Normal I can score much better. This goes to prove that even on settings lower than which I normally play, the bots can put up a good fight. Item placement is very good. Most of all, the placement of the Rocket Launcher. It's placed in a dangerous area. It's surrounded on most sides by higher ground. The weapons are placed is such a way, that spreads gameplay evenly, making sure that no one area is overused. Gameplay here is about the best I've ever seen. This is probably because of it's small size. It's the sort of level that can play in a spare five minutes, or for hours. Either way, the level's strengths always shine through, no matter how long or short the game is. This level is probably better suited to LAN games rather than internet games, as sharp reflexes and quick thinking are needed to be able to win convincingly here. Another aspect of the excellent level of gameplay is the gameflow and connectivity. The different areas of this level are joined in such a way that you don't get that repetitive feeling when running through the same areas over and over. The detail of this level ensures that you never get bored of the level, even after playing it for hours.

This is one of the best small / tourney levels that are out there. The sheer level of architectural detail, coupled with a killer layout, goes to make this an excellent level. The same goes for the other levels in the pack. They are of equal quality to this level, and can deliver a thoroughly entertaining game experience.

DM-1on1-Judith is;

  • A small 1 on 1 level

  • Quake 3 themed

  • Architectural genius

    DM-1on1-Judith isn't;

  • As good for net play as it is for LAN games

  • Totally flawless. (Well, it almost is)

  • A level you'll get bored of

    I consider myself a strict reviewer, yet I still gave this map a 9.5. This map is a fantastic 1 on 1 map, perhaps the best I have seen. Trying to think of any major flaws, I can't think of any, however it falls short of a 10 because I think the action generally stays in the open area with most people(not bots). Excellent work.

    I downloaded this map, and tried to load it up but it redirected me to DM-Liandri. There was no menupic and from the review it got and the looks of the screenshot it looked like a really cool map so i gave it a 2. probably would have gotten a 8.5 if i had been able to play it =) (I still have NEVER given anything higher then an 8.5) =(

    This is a great One on One deathmatch map. The layout is simply amazing. This mapper has some major talent when designing levels. I am assuming the name "Judith" came from the hit A Perfect Circle song off of "Mer De Noms". That's a great song and this is well a great level. I do reccommend 3 - 4 players though. - Phaser F.

    I've been playing this map for a week now, (against human opponents mostly) and I love it. It is defenetely one of my favourite 1on1 maps about.

    It's a really great map. The only reason I didn't give it a better score is because I am on a 56k modem, and 1 on 1 matches are kind of hard when I go against a cable modem user. But when I play offline, I really love this map, and I would recommend it to everyone. Especially broadband users ;) .

    A small map, but it has its twists and turns. Great for 1on1s.

    Having played this map thousands of times, even in ladder matches, I must say Ive yet to have a boring match here. You can pretty much just camp the armor and make the enemy come to you, giving you great advantage. But you obviously have to be better because your enemy will have the same idea. Great map, destined to be a classic along with Rose and Magdelena, I keep all 3 of these on my server at all times.
